Satan can produce lying signs and wonders. He took Jesus up to the top of the Temple in a miraculous way. As the return of Christ approaches we will see more of this type of thing:
"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." - Matthew 24:24
When we see these signs and hear about false Christs, we will know that His coming is near. We won't have time to hear about it. It will happen as quickly as "the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west".
