Goat’s milk is naturally homogenized, and the protein is more assimilable than cow’s milk. Raw goat milk produced by someone who knows what they are doing is some of the best and healthiest milk you’ll ever have.
I am. I used to raise goats and rabbits. Not these these days however. Goats are interesting animals. Good meat and good milk.

While I might try to get the very young ones to get comfortable with my dog, I would never chose the goat over my dog. The German Shepherd dog breed was started as herding dogs. There is no dog more German than my boy. I have seen them herd sheep quite well. They do bark at them to move or confine the sheep.
We have both cougar and coyote in our area, so the risk would be ever present. If I were to make a point of it, I could completely eliminate the coyote issue, but the small family of cougar would be much more difficult. For over 25 years, we have left these predators alone because they help to keep the deer numbers down.
I think I need to take this slow and learn much more before I bother with it.
That is true with cattle also...I had a friend that raised black Angus, one got tangled up in the electric fence. By the time they found it, it was dead of shock and the meat ended up being thrown out...The taste of a animal killed like that is different than just plain butchered.. It has to do with the hormones the animal releases when under long term stress....
My wife is good on a tractor too. She likes playing outside with me, and in the dirt.

Over a couple of years I ended up with a few bottle babies..(I did love bottle babies) A gal in the area raised milk goats and I would buy her milk for my bottle babies...I found angora milk quite sweet, had to taste in when milking out a goat with problems...Like you said, different than cows milk....the meat is a lot like lamb (I have been told) I don’t like lamb but my goats made fantastic salami and sausage...thanks for the ping, hope I was of help in some small way.....

1200 pounders. Had a nice ride around the compound as usual. Stayed out until dark, since this weather will not last. My geldings (remember they are from “heaven”) don’t bite, unless the bossy one nips the submissive one of the herd(2 horses is enough to make a herd). I am boss mare to both of them, hence no biting me. Herd pecking order, that’s the trick. Horses are followers looking for a leader. It’s neat to be leader of a 1200 pound animal. Isn’t so easy with spouses...they don’t like boss mares.

Unfortunately 'round here the beetle bugs transcended en-mass, making it impossible to sit out & enjoy the day while it lasted. Damned things are irritable li'l cusses, bite y'know. *Did* manage to roll the ZCar for a little cruise through the Kettle Moraine, though. Burn some of that $79 p/brl BP premium. Niiiiiiice.

Oh I remember, wasn't talking about the teeth kinda biting. "Horse bites" are what one gives another on their knee caps with their hand, hits a funny bone & makes 'em laugh? Nevermind, must be a generational thing. LOL

Yes, you've explained the process of successfully pulling this off. You've a formal name for the technique too, IIRC. Wonder if it'd work on our wild turkeys? Can you see ol' Landru out there clucking around, asserting his self with his flock of birds? Me neither. LOL

BTW, I just got the most horrendous paper cut. I was ripping up some junk mail, and one thick glossy mailer sliced right into my pointer finger! I gasped so loud the husband flew into the kitchen to see what the heck happened. I don’t think he’s ever went from couch to kitchen that fast before. Hee Hee. I super glued the cut, slapped a bandaid on it. I’ll live. Didn’t have the nerve to open up the slice and see just how deep it was. That was some thick sharp paper. Danged junk mail.
Yes folks, I’m mentioning a paper cut. By paper cut standards, it is “hugh, series and stuning” and it set off my beeber.
