The Jim Zorn watch began immediately after the Redskins' loss to the Chiefs. But it appears he has done enough to save his job, for now.
Sources told FOXSports.com that following Sunday's game that Zorn met with Redskins vice president Vinny Cerrato, who basically told him that the head coach had too much on his plate and that he wanted him to succeed as head coach. They agreed that Zorn would relinquich playcalling duties. The two will meet again Monday morning to discuss who that role who be transferred to.
The move comes amidst heavy criticism following the beleaguered Zorn all season long, which had grown each week as the Redskins lost four of their first six games against the NFL's weakest schedule. Zorn's offense has not scored more than 17 points in any game this season. In Sunday's loss, Washington earned only seven first downs and failed to score a touchdown.
