Here is newly released home video by the family of "Balloon Boy" Falcon Heene of the liftoff of the balloon from the backyard yesterday. You see the father, Richard Heene, doing a countdown, and then the balloon takes off with the father appearing agitated. The father was close to the balloon as it took off. . . . (VIDEO)

There is no way that balloon is going to carry a kid.
OK, after seeing this, I am 100% convinced this was a deliberate hoax. Reasons:
1. We heard all about some box or basket that was supposedly attached to the balloon, yet in this video it’s perfectly clear that NOTHING was attached. It’s in exactly the same state as when it landed. The parents knew this all along.
2. When the balloon landed, it was clear the authorities already knew there was no kid inside, because there was no frantic — or even casual — effort to bust open the balloon’s bottom enclosure to get to the kid. They just snagged it, deflated it and stood around. The only reason for this would be that the parents had already told them no kid was in there (probably referencing the mythical “box” above).
This is bizarre. After yesterday's story that the balloon was accidentally untethered by the boys, the family now voluntarily releases a video showing the parents let the thing go, intentionally or not???
And why would the kid hide in the attic? Unless they’re trying to say that the kid was the one who untethered the thing. Yeah, right. Even if the kid did do that he would just deny he did it rather than hide in the attic for hours and hours.
HOAX!
I don’t think so either. I think the dad lost it with an accidental release, then can’t find the kid and in a panic was not thinking straight. Seems his experience with this kind of balloon is not very great, maybe that was why he was building it, trying to figure it out...I dunno. It could be a hoax, but at this point I would give the benefit of the doubt.
Plus... They said he crawled into the balloon! You can't climb into that balloon, there's NO PLACE to climb into it! It's sealed!
I’m going to bet these guys own at least one ‘Yes We Can’ t-shirt.
The family was dumb enough to release this video?

“because... you said..... we... did it for the show...”
Remember also, a lot of what we heard yesterday was pumped out by a media known to be untrustworthy. Hard to know what the parents actually told authorities at this point.
Obama voters?
“That balloon could not lift more than 10lbs. The father knew that.”
Yes!
That was my thinking right off the bat. Notice how the media is so ignorant of any basic science or physics that none of them ever bothered to even call someone who would know and ask them that.
Also, notice how it was variously reported as a hot air baloon, or a helium baloon, or - on one site - a “hot air helium” baloon.
And these are the people we look to for information on important matters?
Remember, the story we got was filtered through the media, and what the media reports is usually fabricated and wrong.
Media Whores. I want 2 hours of my life back and reimbursement for the extra blood pressure medicine I took while I stood in horror praying for the safety of a little boy who knew this whole thing was a scam.
God is probably going to want an exactment for having to listen to so many prayers on an emergency that didn’t exist.
Anybody else see the episode of Myth Busters where they tie a bunch of helium baloons to a lawn chair with a little kid in it to see how many it would take?
The amount required dwarved this tiny thing.
You Talkin’ to me?!!!
I was watching the CNN online feed yesterday and it was embarrassing listening to the dumb-as-rocks anchorette talk with a ballooning expert they had on the phone.
I don’t understand how ANYONE can’t see this is a complete hoax? Why would anyone see it any other way?
Do you not see the father throwing a tantrum immediately after the baloon is released? His pathetic attempt at acting makes professional wrestlers look like golden globe winners!
