FORT SMITH - A Van Buren store clerk who just won 100 grand in the Arkansas lottery faced a felony drug charge today and pleaded guilty to sex charges last week.
Joseph Pierce was on top of the world after winning 100 thousand dollars in the lottery. But today, news broke of his august arrest and his subsequent conviction. Add to that, the fact that he was arrested and convicted on similar charges just three years ago.
"On August 22nd Joe Pierce of Van Buren was arrested by our street crimes unit while they were conducting undercover operations at Fort Smith park and walking trails."

Having money is like drinking whiskey, it only reveals what was always underneath.

"I do have a wife, and I just had a baby 5 days ago so this is perfect timing." Arrested for public sex with a total stranger in the park. Is this his way of saying "I'm not gay!"?

Pierce's unrelated arrest aside, Representative Rick Green says a store employee winning the lottery raises the question whether or not they should be allowed to play. Yeah, they should be allowed to play but not allowed to win, right?
Unless they somehow "worked the ping pong balls" there is no corruption here.

The regular Joe became a household name the next day when news of his big win spread. He told 5NEWS he planned to buy a house for his family.Upon winning $100k?
While I certainly wouldn't be upset to scratch off $100,000, that amount of money is hardly a life-changing event. It's not like you can tell your boss to go to hell or anything.

For the typical RAT voter in that part of the country it *would* be life changing. And I could be wrong but I think that $100K can buy a half decent piece of residential real estate in many parts of AR,TN,LA,etc...whereas,you can't buy a closet for that sum on the coasts.
