0 Rock, a three-for-three Emmy winner as TV's finest comedy, finally returns tonight.
It's puzzling that I get scores of questions about the most obscure TV series, some canceled years, ago, but I have not received a single inquiry about where 30 Rock has been. Then again, given the mediocre ratings, this probably shouldn't be that great a surprise. A widespread observation is that the stories are too inside TV to strike a chord with the masses. How then do you explain the enduring popularity of the likes of Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood?
Tina Fey has ticked off some folks with her dead-on mocking of Sarah Palin but 30 Rock was a Nielsen under-achiever before anyone in the lower 48 had heard of Palin.
Whatever the reason, a lot of people are not clued in to a really wonderful comedy, whose accolades are well deserved.

She’s a semi-lib but didn’t drink the Obeyme kool-aid. Yeah, that scar is hot (sarc/)
Arrested Development was excellent. Shame on Fox for ruining it.
Maybe the audience considers Tina Fey too “divisive”, and a “hater”.
Friday Night Lights is currently scheduled to come back in the summer on NBC. I think it starts back on DirecTV this month though.
I’m hoping that something gets canceled on NBC and they bring it back before the Olympics instead of after.
It’s funny how far some FReepers go to deny reality.
The first thing I said when I saw Sarah Palin was that she looked like Tina Fey.
And Alec Baldwin is a scumbag. But he is able to portray his character Jack Donaghy, who is every thing that Baldwin is not, so compellingly.
What is that if not great acting? To play convincingly something that is 100 per cent the opposite of your very being?
Thump your chests about how you never watch TV or only use it on Sunday mornings. But don’t deny reality.
30 Rock is funny - it should have a bigger audience.
30 Rock is well written and for the most part funny.
Having said that there is no doubt it is essentially a F**k You to anyone that doesn't share Tina Fey, et al's, politics and world view hidden behind the facade of a comedy program.
Alec Baldwin is a loathsome human being but a talented actor and his timing is impeccable. He kills on that program and is completely believable as a caricature of a GE Exec.
Fey is a very ugly person. Anything the ‘critics’ orgasm over (like this show for the last 3 years), I deliberately avoid.
I don't see that. If anything, the Jenna character has been used many times to display the vacuity of Hollywood stars. (Like her confusing Obama and Osama.)
Well, it isn't exclusively a raised middle finger to everyone in flyover country but they never miss an opportunity to ridicule Christianty, patriotism, modesty, Republicans and conservatives.
Making fun of Hollywood vacuousness is easy because everyone thinks the other person is shallow but their own values...those are deep and worthy of respect.
When entertainment types make fun of themselves it is like the old Carlin joke where he said, Everyone driving faster than you on the freeway is a maniac and everyone driving slower than you is an idiot."
