OK, how are you supposed to post photos here???
Posted on 10/09/2009 11:56:11 AM PDT by SandWMan
How does one post photos here? Everyone else can do it, but I cannot. Just typing in the address for the photo yields only a link. Putting it between [img][/img] like virtually everywhere else gets me nothing. I can find NO instruction anywhere on FreeRepublic on how to use the site. Any help?

The photo has to be uploaded to somewhere on the internet. It can't be on yer puter. Then, you use the code:

You need to get yourself the right kind of camera...
There's just enough room under the shroud for my laptop. If you have a tower or a desk top, you might need a bigger shroud.

Copy and paste using the “image html or xhtml protocol macro” that comes with your contribution to FR.

Just typing in the address for the photo yields only a link. Having a link is most of the problem. That at least means the image is hosted somewhere. Then you just need to throw an image tag around it. E.g.,
<img src="http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/logo.gif">
produces this:

Do as Palladin writes and preview to see if it’s what you want.

“< img src = “[url here]”>”
No space after between “<” and “img”
Photo has to be on another server that allows remote linking. (Most do.)
when you find a photo you like, using google image search for instance,
1.) right click on it and select properties, down at the bottom.
2.) When the properties widget appears there’s a row called Address [URL].
3.) click on the url and select some text,
4.) with some text of the url selected, right click and select “select all”
5.) right click again and select copy.
6.) paste the url in “double quotes” like shown.
