This woman is talking about how her kids are bringing home Social Justice teachings at the catholic school ... I'm sure other faiths are too ...
>>Benedict appears to have taken his eye off the ball there.<<
Actually B16 is too busy cleaning up the mess JPII left.
He is smacking down the Lavendar Mafia and all the crap JPII ignored.
If he lives long enough, he’ll get to the social justice crowd. I pray he starts with Mahoney.
Maybe this IS too big for one fellow to possibly address.
That’s what I like about the herd of cats Southern Baptist model. Size doesn’t get in the way of keeping the congregation straight.
>>The lefties, gaia worshiping humanists and the social justice seeking leaders are the main reasons why I refuse to attend mass.<<
I used to be right with you.
Then I found my parish. Things are changing. At my parish, no handholding, no dancing or gladhanding, no “for the children” crap.
Check out Mass times and look for a parish with Adoration. They will be liturgically correct.
I’m a member of a Catholic Church here in Houston, same church I made my 1st Communion in. Even as a child I remember these priest saying....”you need to donate more money, we are not getting enough to help the poor, how awful we were for not helping more, etc.” Today 45 years later, we still hear the same thing. The Catholic Church has always been about redistribution of wealth....we just thought we were helping the poor people. Hey, and I got no problem of giving somebody a helping hand. But at some point people need to take responsiblity for themselves. Of course today, a great portion of the people that this Church is helping are also in this country illegally.
>>Maybe this IS too big for one fellow to possibly address.<<
Nothing is too big for Jesus Christ.
Benedict answers to him.
Social Justice is short for “how can I get someone else to do the charity that I should do personally”.
My grandmother was the church organist from the time she was 12 years old. She left when they moved her out of sight and only let her play one or two hymns per month.
Now they have drums, electric guitars and crap like that. She says its like a bad talent show.
That in turn rests on the assumption that the RCC structure is how Jesus desired (rather than permitted) the overall church to be managed. The trivial equation status_quo = status_quo doesn’t tell you anything.
>>Today 45 years later, we still hear the same thing. <<
The good thing is, it’s optional. You don’t have to give a thing. That’s not really redistributing, when one can opt out.
Our parish handles it differently. All our charity goes to a Parish in Tanzania. They say Holy Mass under a tree. They have a school and a seminary, but no water or power (a broken down building) in either.
We are actively sending money to them. Our Youth Group is going to visit next year. There are seven men in the seminary right now.
When a parishioner has a problem, we have a fundraiser.
And do the Christmas and Easter charities, optional, that go to an Unwed mom’s home and crisis pregnancy center.
Why is it Americans couldn’t see this through Kennedy and Pelosi????
>>RCC structure is how Jesus desired <<
LOLOLOL!
It is!
Now maybe your Jesus is better than our Jesus, but I really don’t think so.
We believe our view of Him is better
The apostacy issue will remain with us always, as the Bible has been plain in explaining.
This current socialist bent can trace its roots back at least to the early 1900s, where certain people decided to use scripture to bend the world.
We are commanded, rather, to bring the scripture to the world and rely upon God to do the changing. God is the force at work, not us.
Thus it has always been and thus it shall always be.
John Hagee
Perry Stone’s word studies
Then, John Hagee again.
it predates liberation theology, going back at least to the thirties.
Without stopping where God stops, that’s the kind of mess we will get. He stands at the door and knocks, rather than busting it down. This is not to comment on how things go within the church, which is not and should not be laissez-faire.
I live in progressive Austin....anyone know of any conservative churches in this city, let me know..
Right now we’re just trying to pay the bills!
We do fund raisers for those in our parish who are in need, in fact, today I’m picking and roasting about 80 lbs of green chile and I’m taking it to the church where we’re going to peel it and get it ready for a chile relleno dinner for a couple who are having a lot of medical expenses. It seems we do one or two a month.
