What about mother's abusing alcohol/drugs during pregnancy?
And infants and very young children put into what they perceive as the hostile world of daycare where they experience the human reaction of fight or flight? Not too many fighting babies so flight into withdrawal.
It would be helpful although probably too much to expect for responses to this post to avoid attacking the messenger but instead point out actual research/studies that show my concerns have no relevance. Particularly the daycare issue as it is a recent phenomenom in the human experience.
I’ll need to don asbestos as well. Here are my observations (on my stepchildren)
1. Mom and dad are divorced
2. Diet consists of:
-chicken fingers (mcnuggets) and fries
-fast food
-cheese pizza
-brightly colored orange mac and cheese
-soda (diet coke in particular)
-doritos
-oreos
-hot dogs
-donuts and sugary snacks
ABSOLUTELY NO WHOLESOME HOME COOKED FAMILY DINNERS!!
3. exposed to constant mindless tv cartoons (i.e. spongebob)
4. unlimited 24/7 vid game stimulation
5. no bedtime to speak of (10:30 and later for a 6 yr old)
6. although failing in grade school, mom enrolls children in every extra curricular activity under the sun for popularity (VFT; valuable face time)
7. children sense guilt in parents and use this to manipulate them; use the COD card (children of divorce card)
Oh yes and the mom is a child protective worker by trade so if we make the children do light chores at our house (GASP) mom calls in an abuse report and uses her weight to get it run up the flag pole.
All three children are far behind academically and psychologically/emotionally (homework/classwork optional at moms)
After two attempts to do so, mom had the middle child labeled “learning disabled” by twisting a few admins arms (she grew up with the school administrators; it’s her home town) when said child refused to do her homework and classwork (mom wants to be the children’s BUDDY and not their parent).
The oldest two are on generic ritalin (they supposedly couldn’t handle the divorce; can you say PROJECTION?) No difference noted in (lack of) behavior after drugs are administered.
THIS is the way most children are being raised in America today; it’s very convenient to label them “learning disabled” or “autistic” or “ADHD” or “ODD” (yes oppositional defiance disorder which in my day was called “LOB” lack of BELT) instead of actually setting rules and boundaries and (gasp) PARENTING your children.
I love to see the way today’s modern “parents” BARGAIN with their children at the store. BARF BARF!!
