This picture shows the 1939 National League Champion, Cincinnati Reds team. Managed by Bill McKechnie, the Reds finished the regular season with a record of 97 wins and 57 loses, 4.5 games ahead of the second-place St. Louis Cardinals. The 1939 team lost the World Series to the New York Yankees, but came back in 1940 to win the world championship, defeating the Detroit Tigers.

Games 2, 3 and 4 go just as badly for the Reds.

http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/*/index = Latest.
Now i understand that poster time is taken into account but other than that, whats with this crap? Latest shouldn’t make me wanna see 1939. right?

“Latest” means most recently posted. Now go away before I call the campus police.

Won’t be the first time boss! I simply wouldn’t mind a cleaner interface. Surely, there has to be somewhere other than ‘latest’ where this 1939 baseball graveyard could be at.

Love the Babe Dahlgren reference in the photos. He is a great trivia question answer - who replaced Lou Gehrig at first base when he ended his record consecutive appearance in 2130 games?
I had to interview him once as part of an investigation into the Major League Baseball Players Pension Plan. A fascinating man.
