The story “drew me in”... even though it wasn’t pleasant.
You’re a good writer.

I read it three times and still can’t figure out what the point of that story is.

A rambling narrative that takes us nowhere. What was the point of it? Was it to get in some tangential digs at Ronald Reagan? A narrative or a story must have a purpose and a point; it must take us somewhere, and make us think, or feel some emotion. This drivel did nothing, as it said nothing.
I do not know why it was posted on FR.

Ending is anti-climatic and somewhat, well not pointess, but ambiguous perhaps.

My school had an odd kid with freckles who smelled of a mixture of camphor and sea bass. That kid went on to become Hermann Goering.
It really is a strange world, isn’t it?

It would have been better if she had a birthmark that looked like Jesus on her back and even the Mexicans that flocked to see it wouldn’t date her.

I guess the moral of the story would be...Not all high school fat girl stories have happy endings?

I liked your story. Most have these stories like this but are not thoughtful and observant enough to put the pieces together and not many have the talent of story telling that you have. Very good. Keep up the good work.

HMMM , strange story with a strange ending. Thought provoking to me though. I can somewhat relate to the author. While not growing up rich or even in an affluent family, and actually being po’ white trash, I was fairly popular within my economic and social class. I well remember the “fat girls”, nerdy geeks, and other social outcasts and after I ran across some of them later in life, many still fat, ugly,or nerdy, while some outgrew their awkwardness, I always think, “ Man, I sure hope I was not too unkind to them back in the day”. I don’t recall being exceptionally cruel to anyone, mainly I just ignored those people
