To: My Favorite Headache
Hopper went off Hollywood's RADAR after Easy Rider went to his head (that and drugs). He had to work overseas for years because of his reputation.

During that time he acted for rent-money in one of my favorite films, Wim Wenders' "An American Friend" with Bruno Ganz. It was a retelling of Highsmith's "The Talented Mister Ripley" and in my opinion the best of the lot. See it if you can find a copy.

He was also in a Season five episode of “COMBAT!” on TV (about 1965). He played a jazz drummer with the USO who gets lost at the front and ends up in combat. He had that edge showing even then.
