'Vicious' Pomeranian ordered out of Aspen

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - It's out of town or else for Gizmo, a Pomeranian with a bad reputation in Aspen.

Municipal Judge Brooke Peterson told Gizmo's owner, Melinda Goldrich, that if the dog is seen again in town, it will be put to death. Goldrich was in court Wednesday on a charge of keeping a vicious dog.

An employee at an Aspen fitness club says Gizmo, who was tied to a fence, bit her in August. The dog served 10 days in an animal shelter.

Goldrich had been under a court order to not leave Gizmo unattended after he bit somebody in February. She was also cited in 2006 for his bad behavior.

Peterson threatened to have animal control officers round Gizmo up if he returns to Aspen.

How to Stop your Pomeranian from Biting

So you’ve gotten this cute little dog that’s no bigger than a cat, and you’re thinking ‘there is no way this dog could be aggressive’. How can anything so cute be so mean? Well, if your Pomeranian has snapped at you then you are not alone. I have had countless people come up to me with my Pomeranian who tell me of the cute little Pomeranian that they met but had to be given up because they were aggressive. Why is something so small and cute a Cujo in disguise? Some say it’s because of irresponsible breeding, others say it’s just their innate nature. But either way I am sure you would rather keep this expensive dog than give him up, so here are some ways to get your Pomeranian to be more angel, less Cujo.

“Little dogs have complexes, always using their bark to somehow compensate for their lack of size.”

No complexes involved. Some small dogs rarely bark; a couple of examples: beagles & bichon frises. Most small dogs do bark — that makes them good watch dogs (they were probably bred for that purpose, originally.)

The woman in the story posted here tied her dog to a fence and went away and left it.

Thats the key right there.........

I don't really hate little dogs, I just dislike dogs who have been allowed to gain control of their owners............and for some reason, its always the little ones.

Why? Did the dog call Oblama a testosterone deficient, homosexual teleprompter? ;)

There are no bad dogs, only lazy owners.

I’ll take the little bugger and my two dogs and cat will socialize it in short order.

Yah, like I said, if there's a well-behaved one out there somewhere I still haven't met it.

A close friend of my family, years ago, also had 2 poms. She was a nice young woman but she had zero control over those little rat-like pests. They were nasty yapping noisy ankle-biters. One time they came over... ran right up to the christmas tree and pee'd all over the presents. Everybody had a dozen stories of something just plain nasty that those little pukes had done to them.

At their home, the pair used to mercilessly taunt and tease the rottweiler that lived next door. When outside he'd be on a long chain, and those little yard rats knew *exactly* how far that chain would reach. They'd work as a team... one would sneak around behind him and nip at his leg then run like hell out of range. Or steal his bones... all sorts of cruelties. Then one day, apparently the chain broke.

Two little dead poms were found right in the middle of their yard. Almost as if they were intentionally posed there. Our friend was crushed of course. We did our best to feign sympathy, and we waited until she was out of the room before we did any high-fives or laughing. But she was the only person in the universe that grieved over those little monsters. Everybody else pretty much had the same reaction: "Well... it's about time." :-)

One of our neighbors had a bad little chihuahua named Frodo. He was mean and would charge us if we came out our front door. I was about ready to punt him but he disappeared one day. What a relief! I don’t have to worry every time I step in our front yard (which is a common area in our development). Tiny dogs seem to get “little man syndrome.”

My little dog makes a sound once a week or so, usually when playing tug-o-war.

Cesar has great luck with big dogs. He has problems with little dogs. I have a chihuahua. Fidel, who is not interested in being trained.

We had a little hounddog stray into our home; she was likely a dropoff. She has an attitude, but is quite trainable. Since our spaniel is much too docile, she’s our guard dog. When she bares her teeth, you’d swear she was demon possessed.

One of the problems is trimming dog’s nails. And dogs hate people fooling with their paws.

Large dogs have to be sedated to trim their nails.

When I got out of the military, I bought my Grandma a Pom. She always wanted one and still has the little thing. The way they’re raised makes all the difference.

But the Schipperke?
Little demons from hell.
Fearless monsters that can fly into an area and wipe out a small city.

...but they’re cute!
