There is an old saying on the internet: “Don’t feed the trolls and they will go away”.

So ignore them and eventually, not right away, they will go away because they can not stand being ignored.

Being noticed is what they live for.

Totally ignore. No reply of any kind.

If I were you, I'd be a lot more worried about them finding who you are.

The site would be able to determine that. In a chat room its easy to find out or p2p. But if they are just postings on a blog, it would have to be the sites owners to find out. Even if you did, IP’s can be dynamic or grouped into a common range. In addition, many peope surf through anonymizers and proxies. I agree, just ignoring them is the best bet.

Can’t C4P just block them from posting? I visit the site but I don’t post there. If registration is necessary to post, then their accounts can be revoked by a moderator.

It might take a little “wetware” engineering but it’s possible if you can get them to cooperate.

Does the site allow you to send them a private message? If it does, send them a note suggesting they visit a site that you control. Then see who visits.

Tailor the invite to what you know about their interests, peeves, hot buttons whatever.

Some blogging sites allow you to install third party apps that can track IPs. Livejournal is one. I think facebook may also allow but I am not sure. If your current host doesn’t allow, consider moving to one that does.

No real way for us regular folks.

I have outed a couple using advanced Google search. As a rule, the more outrageous and despicable the leftist, the more in love they are with their own words. i.e. If he uses a unique, “colorful” phrase, chances are he will also use it on another forum. These are dead giveaways once a pattern is established. Then you can call them out in open forum. But don’t be surprised if your suspect changes names and returns to the scene of the crime.
