Reward offered in case of duct-taped cat

A $1,000 reward is being offered for the conviction of whoever body-wrapped a cat in duct tape and abandoned it in a North Philadelphia yard.

Only its head was uncovered.

"Whoever did this is very sick," said George Bengal, director investigations for the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which is headquartered in North Philadelphia.

"I've never seen a cat totally wrapped like a mummy before," he told 6ABC.

A resident of the 2200 block of Edgley Street found the cat yesterday afternoon.

"It's a damn shame," Irissa Torian told CBS3.

The female cat - nicknamed "Sticky" by workers at the PSPCA - was sedated so the tape could be cut away with scissors and saved as evidence.

Afterward, the cat was doing well.

"She's a very friendly little thing," said Gail Luciani, PSCPA spokeswoman. ". . . She was purring while we were preparing to take the tape off, while we were getting her sedated."

"We're lucky that the tape was not on the cat for a long time. It came off easily," she said.

"I don't have an estimate of how old she is. She is an adult," she added.

Anyone with information about this case should call the PSPCA's cruelty hotline at 866-601-7722.

That’s not being self-righteous, it’s just the cold-hard truth. Don’t get me wrong, though, I’m not a big pro-choice proponent. Personally, if one is living off of taxpayer subsidized entitlement then that person should have mandatory (not permanent) sterilization until he/she can support themself and any offspring.

That would work.
The jerks who did this to a cat would likely move on to larger defenseless things.
And so on until they’re doing things to humans.

So catching them and nipping it in the bud in an equally nasty fashion might work.
Then again, might not.

I’m just wondering how many people it took to accomplish this. My kitten, whom was recently poisoned, would have made it necessary to have two “holders” and one “taper”.

Totally. If they got near my cat Gilbert they would be needing blood transfusions, and about 50 yards of suture, possibly limb amputations and with out a doubt at least an eye patch after recovery. BUT NO PAIN MEDS. They would get to live that as a bonus.

Must have been quite a heroic undertaking to take on a kitten with nothing but ones bare hands. I'm very impressed with this example of manliness>

But not exactly positively impressed.

From your link:

‘Further studies have suggested that these behaviors are often the product of parental neglect, cruelty or trauma, and that such events in a person’s childhood can result in “homicidal proneness”.’

Creepy sociopaths. Something in my gut tells me this is the work of teens.

North Philly, where the cat was found, is a bad part of town—the residents kill each other at the drop of a hat—a cat isn’t even an afterthought to many of those folks.

If only kitty could drive to the scene and find the monster that did that.

I can’t imagine what would make someone want to hurt a cat. It makes me angry.

How much reward and outrage was offered for the children aborted today?<<<<<

Many people who torture, maim and/or kill humans began their path with mistreating or torturing animals. It is of the utmost importance to catch them at that stage before they go on to other targets. This animal was more fortunate than many others.

Sadly, whoever did this is probably only practicing on small animals, and will “graduate” to children, then adults. Most serial killers begin this way. Your concerns are valid, but it would be nice to catch this torturer before he harms humans as well.
