High ratings drama Monday night with a deluge of broadcast network premieres:
>> Fox won the opening night of the fall season for the first time in the network's history. The network aired the two-hour return of "House" (16.5 million viewers, 6.5 preliminary adults 18-49 rating), the medical drama climbing 14% from last year while most of its competitors declined.
>> CBS placed second in the key adult demo with its comedy block and "CSI: Miami" (13.7 million, 4.3). "Miami" was down 17%, though still beat ABC and NBC at 10 p.m. combined. "Big Bang Theory" (12.8 million, 4.6), however, managed to rank as the network's highest-rated show last night. "Big Bang" was in its new time period after "Two and a Half Men" (13.6 million, 4.4) and grew 28% from last year to hit a series high. Leading off the night, "How I Met Your Mother" (9.2 million, 3.5) was off only a tenth from "Big Bang" in the slot last year. New comedy "Accidentally on Purpose" (9 million, 3.2) lost less than 10% of its lead-in and did fairly well considering the intense competition.

I enjoyed the premiere. I hope Dr. Nolan stays on the show.
The morning news show does cross promoting. The old goof reads off who would be on Leno tonight:
"Pee Wee Herman... the second week and he's already scraping the bottom of the barrel".
Oh, please. I enjoy House as good drama, but never expect anything remotely resembling morality on that show. That is, of course, the series’ greatest strength: an entire cast of flawed and morally conflicted characters, House being the worst.
It’s just entertainment, for adults with a good ethical foundation who enjoy something more than vapid sitcoms and shoot-em-ups.
Did he ever get to play that locked piano?
If Leno succeeds, they’ll be filling primetime with the likes of Letterman, etc. One success, and all the network entertainment folks follow like sheep.
So I do not wish him well.
ABC is pushing the homosexuals raising children show, and it is not even a blip.
This literally is NOTHING that is even worth recording.
The networks have truly become the ghetto of amusment.
I also missed the entire season of Fringe as well, and only caught the pilot before the 1st season was pulled... I was going to rent the DVDs, but since there were 7 of them, it was actually cheaper to buy the set at Borders using a coupon. I watched the entire 1st season over the weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing Fringe on Hulu as well! Mark
CBS is on the bankruptcy watch lists. (plural)
Did I mention that House episode was vapid?
Yes, he started to, but was interrupted by the return of the superhero.
The last scene with the superhero and the mute cello player was deus ex machina. 7.5 on the vapidity scale.
No argument there, but it does set up interesting scenarios for the rest of the season.
Different writers, maybe? I wouldn’t accuse most House episodes of vapidity.
Check “Burn Notice” when it comes back on USA in January. Good show.

What I find amazing about ABC is that later this year they are going to start broadcast of a remake of the 80s series “V”. It’s about a bunch of aliens that visit Earth under the guise of hope and change. They look just like us. They only want some of our water in exchange for a whole slew of scientific information. In reality, they *really* want to capture us for food and kill us all. Oh, and they are lizard people that use cloned human skin to mask their true identity.
Every single commercial I have seen for that show almost seems as if they are using various things that Obama spewed during his campaign as the basis for the bad guys to win over the planet.
In my mind, a bad episode of House is better than almost everything else on tv. I liked it, but my husband thought it much too predictable.
Loved Big Bang too.
Heroes: isn’t this the season where Claire becomes a lesbian?
Fringe is another good one. I won’t spoil the season opener for you, but it was a good one.
I was just joshing you.
I was trying to figure out where the psych hospital really was. The road in and out might have been the entrance to the Carrier Clinic. The building was not. The interior courtyard could have been the old Har Sinai Temple building in Trenton.
Yeah, Dr. Nolan is a very watchable actor.
He did get into the locked piano but only metaphorically. wince
