The running game and the o-line have been strengths for UNM over the past several years, so it seems odd now that they don’t have that to rely on offensively. It might be a little easier if the Lobos had a more reliable QB than Donovan Porterie, at least they’d have a chance to keep up with a team like Tulsa.

I am a little surprised to see them go away from the 3-3-5, since it worked for them for as long as Rocky Long was there.

The Lobos at this point are not built to run the Spread, and it shows. Porterie is not a Spread Offense QB either.
I don’t think he has any confidence comming off last year’s knee injury. He dances too much in the pocket, and doesn’t like to run even when he has to. At this point there is no real answer at QB for the Lobos, but I think Brad Gruner could do a better job than Porterie. Hey as long as they beat NMSU the season won’t be a total wash.
