The FWIW poll ignores the fallacy of regular season polls because they are based on the ludicrous pre-season polls that judge teams before they have played one game! Talk about insanity! Alabama is not in the top 10 because their opponents didn't have any wins while the top 10 all had opponents who had one victory. The number of an opponent's victories is a factor in the FWIW top ten. Alabama beat Va. Tech which has a victory, or do you mean when they played them? I mean, it's hard to beat someone who has a win when they haven't even played a game yet.

I count the victories of opponents at the time a team played that opponent. The more victories for a team gives a better indication of that team's performance.

That is the very reason why games earlier in the season carry less weight in my system than games later in the season. The first game in the season is the least important because there is no measurement of a team's success. That is the reason why pre-season polls are a farce. It would be a far more meaningful game if Alabama were to beat A Virginia Tech who is 10-0 than 0-0.
