In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
pink \PINK\ verb
1a. to perforate in an ornamental pattern
1b. to cut a saw-toothed edge on *
2a. pierce, stab
2b. to wound by irony, criticism, or ridicule
* Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.
Example sentence:
"The sleek curtain requires no sewing; we pinked the edges to add a bit of detail." (Jennie Voorhees, Martha Stewart Living, April 2002)
Did you know?
Our unabridged dictionary, Webster's Third New International, includes 13 distinct entries for "pink," whereas our abridged volume, Merriam-Webster's Collegiate, satisfies itself with the five most common. (Words get distinct entries in our dictionaries when they have different etymologies or different parts of speech.) Today's "pink," the only verb of the five, is from a Middle English word meaning "to thrust." Of the remaining four, the only "pink" older than the verb (which dates to 1503) is a 15th century noun referring to a kind of ship. The next-oldest noun has since 1573 referred to a genus of herbs. The noun referring to the color pink and its related adjective date to 1678 and 1720, respectively. Evidence suggests that a new verb "pink" -- a synonym of the verb "pink-slip" -- is also emerging.

So let's knock out this PINK and return to our reg-guue-lar-lee sheduled (that's how them Brits say it and it sounds like Orly when he's either drunk or mad) program of wine tasting. So here goes with a headline story from the page (it only has one) of The Atkinsonville Cosmic Gazette.
Last night Myron Cuthbert’s prize breeding boar imbibed a gallon or so of Myron's home made cough syrup and wandered down to Myron's sawmill. The boar fell into the saw pit and turned PINK.
He surely did get PERFORATED IN AN ORNAMENTAL PATTERN. (sort of cutlets style) with A SAW TOOTHED EDGE (lots of saw toothed, lots of edges)and PIERCED AND STABBED? (with a newly swaged and hammered, 48 inch blade, lots of that piercing and stabbin’ too like Saturday night at the Ladies Auxiliary) plus WOUND BY IRONY (I'd call it nickel steel so irony is close enough but wound just doesn't come close to turning a 600 pound boar to cutlets and chitlins).
So there's PINK for ya! Right now I feel a cough coming on so I'm headed to Myron's to see if that boar, the other other pink one, not Myron, to see if that boar left any of the cough syrup.
Yipppeeee! Souse and grits tonight!
In the last 35 years? I don’t have that memorized, I just know that they haven’t been below .500 since 1974. They almost blew it last year, but did finish exactly at .500.
I have done the testing today of leaning over, up, down and I am feeling nil, nada, zip of light-headedness......I am even going out in the car. I promised my squad captain I would call if I still had symptoms 24 hours after my last pill, and it is now that...symptoms gone...so far so good. He just called to check on me. LOL
Thanks for caring. And you are right about EMS...we think we know it all! LOL
i didn’t realize they had a football team. i thought you were being facetious by saying they didn’t have a LOSING one, bc they didn’t have one at all. why don’t you spend your hard earned $$ on attending CMU scotty dog football games, instead o Pitt? ; )
This is a twofer as it is also a daily uplift
I approve that post :)

I just sent a beautiful one-liner response to the paper:
“If Mr. Eanes of the Mennonite Publishing Network is so enamored with Van Jones’ “Green Jobs” solutions, I assume he is first on the list to volunteer to have one of Mr. Jones’ felons visit his grandmother’s house to insulate her water heater?”
perfect. what an ass.
My Mother used pinking shears to make shorts for us when we were kids
