Being in GA, I was interested in Steele Powers being the first to enlist. I couldn't find much else but I did find this: Prisoners of the Nazis. It mentions his name and where he was living in France so I'm pretty sure its in reference to the same person.

It's got to be the same guy. The news item describes him as an aviator but the book you found puts him in an ambulance unit with other Americans. I only read as far as the reference to him. Did he wind up a POW too?
