"I'm not the first President to take up this cause, but I'm determined to be the last."
Is he saying he will craft a system so perfect that no one will ever want to change it again? Or is it something more sinister? I honestly don't know what he's getting at.
I am willing to accept an innocent explanation.
BTTT
Not having heard him say it, i’d read it more as “i’m gonna do this and once it’s done, it’s done. No turning back.”
As enjoyable as it would be to read something fun into this, I interpret the statement to mean that when he gets this healthcare bill passed, no other president will have to come up with one.
It’s the WAy he said it..the anger, the controlling , demanding and “final’attitude.
It was also bizzarre” I will be the LAST!”
I think he means that he will be the last to pursue socialized health care because he will “acheive” it, even though he denies wanting socialized health care.
I think his handlers' focus groups said he needed to talk tough to regain momentum on this issue and that kind talk sounds tough to them - it's leading by soundbite - which to them is a good thing.
What does he mean there’s no turning back? How do you stop the people from changing their minds?
There is plenty of he says to worry about.
He will be the last President.
They Cant Stop Us!
once the whole country is turned into a bunch of parasites, it will be impossible to reverse it.
I took to mean, “I am going to get healthcare reform done!” Watching him say it, I sensed a very arrogant tone. Kind of like, “Unlike all my inferior predecessors, I, the Great Barack Hussein Obama, will get healthcare reform done, whether the American people want it or not!”
Did you take it to mean something like “I will be the last President of the United States.”? If so, I didn’t get that from that statement.
I heard it and thought the same...I felt a sense of foreboding after he said it. The phrase goes in the file with “we will fundamentally transform America”.
Are we talking about toilet paper hanging over the top of the roll or under the roll?
Honestly, i don’t think BO thinks the things thru that he says. I’m “assuming” this wasn’t word for word from a prepared speeche but more of an off the cuff answer. Because if it were part of a prepared speech, that comment wouldn’t pass the first draft edit.
So, he might be THINKING that we can’t change our minds, but i dont’ think he’d ever say so out loud ON PURPOSE.
Yeah, when I heard that I was thinking his ego got stuck in his mouth again.
I don’t know. I hope so.
He expects to be President for Life?
