Vanity..Best solution to remove bird droppings from...

What are your solutions for removing bird droppings from a sliding screen door? It seems a flock of black birds decided to do a straffing run over the weekend and I have to clean it off....obviously, but would like to use a mixture of some sort to spray and then hose it down... and since screen material is fragile (it's old) I don't want to use any sort of scrubbing pad...any ideas?

My cure-all “solvent” is Pine-sol. Mix some up in a spray bottle and squirt it on the sh*t. Then you get a 3-fer: it dissolves the sh*t, it disinfects, and it smells good. Then you hose it off, rinse and repeat as needed :)

I have 5 birds, so the best I’ve found is .. GOOGLE... POOP OFF..

That’s the name.. it works great.. and it IS SAFE for the birds.

Take the door off, lay it in the grass, and spray it down with white vinegar or car wash soap then turn the hose on it, sweep across it with a light broom to loosen the tough stuff.

I was pondering this, too. I was thinking that putting some Lime-away into the solution might be helpful. Aren’t bird droppings loaded with lime?

Also, I think I would tape some kind of toweling, paper or otherwise to the inside of the screen for two reasons: 1) to keep the cleaning process contained and 2) to gently press the wet toweling against the screen to help loosen the gunk before hosing down.

Good luck!!

Even FReepers have minor LIFE problems from time to time.

Better to Ask for advice, that to Spend UNNECESSARY MONEY on products that may not work. That is the CONSERVATIVE thing to do..

How about going to molly-maid website forum to ask cleaning advise, instead of using the bandwidth of FR that most of us help, even in a small way, to pay for.

If you want to soak it, lay it on a sheet in the yard and put a sheet over it and then wet everything down, the sheets will keep it wet for a long time.

Actually if the screens are that old and fragile, you can replace the screening material in the frame very easily and cheaply.

Or, you can take the screen frame out of the door frame (VERY VERY easy to do) and then take it down to most hardware stores where they will actually put the screen in for you.

I hope this helps.

Cost?? Maybe $8 DIY or $25 in store service...
