Frank Darabont, the director of The Shawshank Redemption, has words for the millions of people who believe his 1994 prison drama is the greatest film of all time. I think thats a little crackers, to be honest, especially when you think of the other films on the list. He means films such as The Godfather, Citizen Kane, Lolita, Vertigo and foreign-language contenders like Bernardo Bertoluccis The Conformist, Jean-Luc Godards Contempt, Luis Buñuels Belle de jour or Rainer Werner Fassbinders The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant.

It was really good while you watched it, but when you thought about it, it was full of bull, stereotypes and garbage.
I’m not sure when Shawshank Redemption took over the top spot on IMDb, but there is a lot of gaming going on with the top 250 there. A lot of it is fanboys trying to elevate their favorite movie to the top. The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King is one of the more recent ones. I believe this was going on with The Dark Knight as well. This lowers the score of some of the top ranked, The Godfather taking a big hit from people voting it a 1 for instance.
Personally, I do have to go with The Godfather. Amazing performances all around, great performances, it looks great. It has it all. Shawshank has pretty good performances, but I think it benefits from a cheery ending and being on basic cable all the time.

Yes! There’s the man!! Ah, I love that movie. I’d watch it tonight but I loaned it to a friend that had never seen it. NEVER SEEN IT! Can you imagine? LOL! I whistle that tune all the time.
You’re just in love with Steve McQueen (even though he’s been dead since you were eight).
Wuthering Heights.
Top 20 Action :
Red Dawn (#1 hated movie by the left)Green Berets (#2 hated movie by the left)

MacArthur (American general most hated by the left)
Patton (ruffled leftist feathers with the scenes toward the end about not drinking with Russian son's of *itches and wanting to start a war against Russia)
Terminator 1

Stalingrad

Full Metal Jacket
Gladiator
High Plains Drifter
Downfall
Enemy at the Gates
Any WWII or Cold War era movie where the actor or voice extolled virtues of Truth Justice and the American Way so hated by the left.
S.R. was a good movie, but I never liked the indoctrination that depicted the warden as an “evil Christian.”
Age doesn’t really matter, does it? *sigh* ;o)
No, but the fact that he’s no longer alive probably does. Then again I think Grace Kelly was the most beautiful actress ever.
I’ll have to check it out. Gregory Peck, yeah...
Me being happily married probably doesn’t help, either. Ha! Grace Kelly was beautiful!
By “full of bull” and “garbage”, I assume you are referring to the fact that Tim Robbins stars in this movie.
Haha! I want a poster of that priest getting all kung-fu on the zombies for my garage - that would be awesome.
I think Michael Moore only fits on the big-screen... yikes! We totally can’t afford Universal Obamacare!!!
I met her once, she was even more beautiful in person (at least from the perspective of a nine year old).

Now *that's* what I'm talkin' 'bout...
