Best deal in Vegas?
09/10/2009 | me

Posted on 09/10/2009 1:15:40 PM PDT by tsmith130

My son, who is in the Army stationed in Germany, will be home for Christmas. He and a buddy are planning a trip to Vegas over the new year. Anyone know of any good deals for a poor 2nd. Lt. and friend?

I thought I read recently that there are a glut of hotel rooms in Vegas right now but can't remember where I read it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Circus Circus is running a pretty good deal through the end of the year:

I would imagine many of the hotels would come up with a nice package if you call them directly.

Thank you! I will check that out and pass on the info. I have no clue what a week’s hotel stay in vegas should run...or what a good deal is for that matter.

The best party of the New Year is supposed to be in Vegas . Best fireworks etc . There is a glut of 17,000 unbooked rooms in the town . I bet if you shop around you could get a deal . i was offered a room for $25.00 at the Venetian when I was out there in June . The Flamingo is center strip, reasonably priced , and has Buffet’s Margarita bar .
A lot of the new places are too gaudy for my liking . The Flamingo seems like a place they would like .

go to the casino websites and subscribe to their email lists. They send out a ton of great pricing. Very cheap.

That’s a new one on me. Is it a reliable site?

You can get the best deals directly from the casinos, on their own websites. Sign up for their player's club (or email list) to get notified of special deals.

They should choose their days carefully -- Thursday night through Saturday night is always the most expensive. Sunday through Wednesday night are the least expensive.

However, since the trip is during the holiday period, it may throw a wrench into their plans. Shop around, and be flexible.

25 bucks a night for the Venetian?? Wow... Are you sure that it wasn’t the Imperial Palace?

In May I was at the Palace Hotel (where OJ got arrested).

Very reasonable (but we had a group rate, though).

I do not gamble and have no want to go to Vegas but some of my close friends do.

They were telling me this past weekend that rooms are really inexpensive now but if you try to catch a show you may need to get a second mortgage.

I have been told that to watch a headliner you can shell out over $300 for a single ticket. I do not know if it is accurate but it is what I have been told by people who have just returned from Vegas.

If they don’t mind not staying on the strip, the hotels downtown on Fremont street are usually a LOT cheaper.
