Any Last Requests? Terrified Fish Takes Last Gasp As Kingfisher Snaps Up Its Supper
[Pics in URL] By Mail Foreign Service 10th September 2009
If fish could speak, this little fellow would no doubt be saying his prayers (between gulps).
Clamped in the beak of a kingfisher, he has only moments to live before a final journey down the predator's throat.
This was the climax of a thrilling sequence of action captured on camera by wildlife photographer Ilia Shalamaev.
Last supper: The fish appears to be terrified as it takes its final breath trapped in the beak of the kingfisher
Perched on a branch above the rushes, the bird waited patiently before spotting its prey below the surface. 'The kingfisher swooped down like a rocket and snatched it,' said Mr Shalamaev.
'He flew up and landed on the same perch again with the fish in his beak. Then he turned it round and ate it, head first.'
The pictures were taken at a lake near Rishon LeZion in Israel.

fish always look terrified.
Bug-eyed and open mouths.

Gee, I’d love to see that look on Obama’s face.
That little fish had hopes and dreams!
I think Heaven has that scheduled.
Shoot, his own puppet masters probably have that scheduled . . .
he’s really not viewed as
in their class
nor as their type.
just take the pain pill.
Thanks for the fine pic post- Better than the original.
pretty astute, for a b-h-p (bizarre haiku post).
The fish has the same WTF look that the American taxpayer has to Obama.....
Chance encouraged by opportunity? I wonder how many shots the photog took to get this one? It’s a great grab! Thanks!!!

That'll be one dollar, Moritmer...
Poor little guy.
ping.
Wasn’t that the look in Nazi Pelosi’s face last night when Joe Wilson yelled “You Lie” to Obummer?
“The Circle of Life.....”
