KEYWORDS: massextinction; ordovician; rockandroll; trilobite; trilobites

Orectochilus orbisonorum – A type of water beetle was named in honour of Roy Orbison in 1998. For those of you that are interested, the beetle is about 5mm long and lives in India. Above is a magnified image of the insect.

Aegrotocatellus jaggeri – A species of trilobite, an extinct marine animal with a hard shell, was named after Mick Jagger when a fossil was discovered in 1995.

The aforementioned Heteropoda Davidbowie. Ain't he pretty?

Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi – Perhaps the coolest animal on our list, Myrmekiaphila neilyoungi is a species of trapdoor spider discovered just two years ago. M. neilyoungi lives in Alabama and Florida.

Hetero = different

Poda = feet.
