Supporters of Harvey Milk want the Governor to sign legislation soon declaring a Harvey Milk Day here in California.

Opponents say that move would "send the wrong message to children by endorsing homosexuality and lionizing a man with a controversial personal history."

Randy Thomasson with SaveCalifornia.com was even more plain in his opposition:.

He will sign it, AND would sign a “Casanova Day” resolution as well to try to offset it.

Will all the bath houses be open for the kids? Will there be instructions on how to perform a three way or orgy? What about cocaine, pot and crank for the kiddies?

When my school starts a Harvey Semen day I shall take Ipecac and then sit in the office lobby with my mouth pointed towards the principal’s desk.

Milk was a snarling, arrogant, condescending pos who sneered at the wrong guy.

Why don’t they just have “Jim Jones Day” while they’re at it. Milk was a huge supporter of “The People’s Temple.”

Thomasson calls Milk a "public liar" because Milk twisted the truth while running for office about his military career, and a "sexual anarchist" who had multiple boyfriends, one as young as 16

What would the left say if they found out that Glen Beck or Rush Limbaugh had been involved with a sixteen-year-old girl?

Never mind. We know what they'd say. Starts with a "P." And the word would precede every subsequent mention of Beck or Limbaugh's name.

Geez. It seems like Harvey Milk Day gets earlier every year. I barely put away my Cesar Chavez Day decorations.

Harvey Milk was a a**hole.

He finally chose the wrong person to be an a**hole to and got popped.

End of story.

Unless they want to remind kids that being a a**hole can get you killed what would the motive be for having a day to remember Harvey Milk?

I thought we were always supposed to teach children that they should never cry over spilt milk.

IIRC Jim Jones was in danger of being put out of business until Milk stepped in to help.

Obama, too, wants them studying this stuff hard in school so that they can grow up to be just like him. These legislators are not trail blazers; they’re cowards.

California parents, speak up now. This is absurd. If this passes, insist in groups and as individuals that the kids be taken out of the Harvey Milk lessons. Insist on knowing what will be taught apropos of Harvey Milk (”Got Milk?”) and keep them home on this day and our of the classroom for all homosexual indoctrination. Spend that time and other time teaching them your values on love, sex and marriage and abotu who your heroes are and what constitutes a hero.

If parents would keep their kids home on the pseudo public education days, the schools would sit practically empty and get the message that the parents don’t buy it. I think the public schools get money from the state on a per capita basis for every student who sits in class every day.

“... lionizing a man with a controversial personal history.”

If a “CONTROVERSIAL” personal history is to be a criterion, we would certainly have to stop “lionizing” an awful lot of major historical figures. (Starting with several of the more notable US founding fathers, including Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, and Thomas Jefferson, all of whom had extramarital sexual liaisons and/or illegitimate children.)
