Kentucky Man, 57, Critically Injured in Skydiving Attempt

LEBANON, Ohio — A Kentucky man skydiving in Ohio was injured when his parachute failed and his backup chute opened about 50 feet above ground.

Fifty-seven-year-old Steve Stoll of Louisville, Ky., was skydiving at the Warren County Airport in Lebanon about 7:15 p.m. Saturday.

Dispatchers said the jumper's parachute failed and his backup opened before he hit the ground.

I’d say that he got the diving part right. It was the stopping part that needs a little work.

In Airborne, it was always said there was no such thing as a perfectly good airplane...

And... I remember my first time in a CH-47 Chinook helicopter... Going up the ramp, I looked up to see hydraulic fluid pouring from the ceiling of the helicopter, from just underneath the location of the rear rotor. I asked the crewman if that was not "a problem." His reply: "No, I don't worry about it until it stops dripping..." My thoughts were "Hope I get out of this thing alive."
