The moron with the tattoos was bad enough pledging his 'service' to Barack Obama before kissing each bicep. But then they got to Ashton saying over and over "What's your pledge?" just before they went to a voice-over of them all saying "I pledge to be a servant of our president and our country." (I'm quoting from memory here so a few words may be off).

I used this as an opportunity to tell others how the founding fathers considered the government to be an untrustworthy servant, necessary to get some things, but one you had to keep your eyes on all the time lest you be robbed blind and to whom you'd never turn over the running of the house (and interesting, isn't it, that the word "economy" comes from a Greek term meaning "the management of the house"?) The government and the people who work for it are our servants, as in what they used to be called, "public servants."
