Berners were a lot smaller back in the mid eighties. A friend had some very nice smaller ones. I don’t think they were over 55 or 60lbs. The puppies are to die for cute.

The average life span of the Bernese has decreased in recent years from 10-12 to 6-8 yrs.. My Border Collie mix ( probably Landseer-Newfoundland) is 16 now. Not old for a Border, but very old for a Landseer.

I didn’t know that. It’s not a breed I’m real familiar with, altho a number of my golden friends also have Berners.
