If you read between the lines in this story, the fact that Dr. Greg Skomal did not identify the sharks as basking sharks limits the number of species in this area to possibly whites, or big makos. Highly unlikely big makos would be together at a seal colony.

Whites would be the logical species for these reasons: big sharks, close to shore, at a seal colony, the reluctance of any one to say basking sharks, the fact that the Town of Chatham now has alerted the swimmers to a possible danger when they have glossed over white shark sightings there in the past. And a white attacked and killed a seal in front of two Kayakers there within the last two weeks. I spoke to one of the Kayakers.- Tom

Doubtless the sharks had heard rumors that Kennedy was going to be buried at sea.

C’mon, smart democrats racing to the shore KNOW those are really a herd of whales so close to shore one can reach out and touch them. What a better way to end a perfect democratic inaugural season.

Smith said seals are dirty and disease ridden. They outweigh most humans and they bite, he added.

Are these seals or is the Kennedy compound nearby?

I am sure the sharks are just following the slave ships to the Kennedy compound.

We should send a note to John Kerry and tell him it looks
like a wonderful day for sailboarding.

HI Frepers

They are whites for sure. At least 5, of varying sizes 8 feet up to 15 feet.

Got this from a reliable source who personally saw the sharks today.

I have not heard Dr. Skomals press release yet, and I am curious as what he has to say.

He was there also amid the white sharks, and also had two spotter planes up. - tom

Over the weekend two bull sharks were caught at the mouth of the Mullica River here in South Jersey.

One was a 10 footer, the other 8 ft.
