Yep. I never knew my grandfathers, and feel as if i’ve missed out on some things, even though I am just a dumb ol’girl :)
But my dad is responsible for helping to keep me a tomboy as I was growing up. I still remember the Texaco truck he bought me one year for Christmas when I was about four or five and when he would take me to work with him (he was a local truck driver and I loved riding with him!).
My Dad was a logger for thirty years then started a gravel business and drove truck for the rest of his life.
I got to ride skidders, loaders, fell trees, build roads, ride along in trucks; good stuff. The best part was working in the shop getting greasy (and hopefully not getting in the way).
By the way, both my Grandma’s had some pretty good stories too!
