We all want something sacred. (Vanity)
Vanity | Sept. 2, 2009 | John Scott

We live in a very interesting time to say the least.

I was watching Glenn Beck tonight and I was struck by the pro-communist or socialist art that has littered our Republic. So much so, that it has become either accepted or gone unnoticed. Images are very powerful things. Images, Icons and art can form a bias and a belief that are embedded so much, that we don't realize their influence on us or those around us. Glenn's show tonight was one of his best.

I am very aware, as are most of you, of the socialist creep that has been occurring in our country for many years and I have always been curious about how something like this can happen. How is it that so many people fall in line with an ideology that is so destructive and demeaning to so many “other people” ? First, I can say they are completely clueless, if you can have a real discussion with a real socialist that has any critical thinking skills, which most think they have, you can either show them with hard facts their error in thinking or to keep their little head from exploding they will shut out facts. I had a personal experience with my ex-girlfriend a number of years ago where she claimed that more black-American soldiers died in Viet Nam than whites. I was shocked that she held such a belief. This is a seemingly well educated young woman of maybe 35 years and a professional in her work. Setting aside how she came to this belief, I/We concurrently searched out the “World Wide Web” and found the real numbers of deaths broken down by demographics. It was the most interesting and amazing experience to watch her come to the realization that her beliefs were wrong. I watched as there was this moment of “Cognitive dissonance”, and her only response was to shut it out and call me an a$$hole. I started planning my escape as well.

Back to the point of my post. This is in fact a very interesting time, it always has been and always will be. By that I mean that times change, but people don't. Human nature is. We form or biases from experience and knowledge we attain through life. Some people grow and learn, and change their opinions as new information warrants. Some people don't grow or change their opinions or beliefs. There's an old saying; if your not a liberal when you're 18 you don't have a heart, if you're not a conservative when your 40, you don't have a head. Why do so many people have these socialist beliefs ? Why do they think and rationalize from an emotional perspective rather than a logical one ? These are very good questions and I'll leave that to another post.

In the meantime, I want to deal with the one thing virtually everybody wants.

We want something Sacred. (I'll give a hat tip to Jim Morrison)

Both liberals and conservatives want something sacred, and we find it in completely different things that are diametrically opposed to one another. Many conservatives find it in the Judeo/Christian traditions that are the founding of our great Republic. Liberals are still searching for it. I think most, so called smart, liberals have over thought this and decided that they are too smart to fall for the religious line, but they still seek spirituality. They seek out something greater than themselves and it cannot be a Deity. They will accept almost anything other than a God. The beauty of God is that it is something sacred that is in you and me individually. I have a running joke with a very smart liberal friend about honor. The irony is that I find safety and confidence in my fellow man, but I do not put my trust in any fellow man that suggests that they know what is best for me. Liberals have searched our world and beyond for something to replace God. What they return to is a deep mistrust of ordinary people doing for themselves what is in their own best interest and they in turn embrace a sacred figure or leader to show then the way. We have been here before and we will be here again. Fundamentally, liberals are very insecure. I repeatedly told my ex-girlfriend to OWN something, own some truth, some fact, some knowledge of the real world.

As I watch what is happening to our great republic it has become apparent that liberal forces are thrusting upon us all their great sacred entities at the same time. It is incumbent on us to tell these little children to “Sit down and Shut up”.

Get in their face and ask them if they really prefer the Earth and Nature over People. We have documented history on our side to either shut them up or explode their little minds. I for one will not go down without a fight. These little retards are not going to undermine what is “American Exceptionalism” just because they don't understand it. American exceptionalism is human nature. It is what is God given because it is freedom and liberty expressed. If they want to follow a charismatic figure then they can join a cult, but they have no right to force that cult on me. I am done being nice, I'm done hoping things will change. Hope is a piss poor strategy.

God Bless

Good essay.

It’s been pointed out for over a century that Marxism is a Christian heresy.

Complete with a golden age of innocence, a Fall by original sin, a (collective) Savior, and a future paradise. There are many more parallels.

“You're all a bunch of slaves”

Stop looking for leaders.

Start expressing your own self interests.

Thanks,

The funny thing about Human nature is that we are IT but many of us don’t see IT.

Get in their face and ask them if they really prefer the Earth and Nature over People.

I have, and they do. They despise themselves, and by extension humanity.

What do you think would happen if they found irrefutable proof that the earth is not billions of years old but maybe thousands ? This will happen. It will be the first warning.

But if you ask them if they would stop an intruder in their home from killing or raping their family, by any means necessary, they would say yes.

An old lib friend of mine has only a baseball bat to protect his family, and it’s not because he can’t afford a firearm. He once told me one of his “goals” is to never touch a gun. ...and he has succeeded (so far). So no, many libs won’t do whatever is necessary to protect their families.

"We want something Sacred."

One man carried a machine around with him,
and sometimes he'd get so tired of it that he'd stop
thinking about it
but still he drug the thing around with him.

The mental activity of those seeking the transformation
comes down to a most simple matter,
you're either thinking about that, or else you're thinking about bull$hit stuff.
...What could be simpler?

Classic insecurity from a Lib.

Fear of the unknown.

Best leave that to someone that is properly trained.

Young and old have been brainwashed to think that you need an expert, because your not smart enough to figure things out for yourself.

Most Liberals I have met are frustrated people who are
dissatisfied with themselves and feel that others are
to blame for ruining their endeavors.

They have feelings of insecurity and uncertainty.
Many are to the point of almost constant anger and contempt.

"We want something Sacred."

When one removes God from society lots of little demigods rush in to take his place.

Most people go through life seeking out something that has already found them.

They despise themselves, and by extension humanity.

I beg to differ. They despise humanity, but by their devotion to the environment vs. humanity they exclude themselves and those who agree with them from those who are despicable. They don't despise themselves, they think of themselves as The Annointed, in Sowells's terms.

This is exactly the same phenomenon as is shown by those Americans who loathe "America" but by the very fact of that loathing exclude themselves from the detested group and absolve themselves from its "sins."

This is why they can so cheerfully trot all over the world apologizing for those "sins." They don't include themselves among those who are responsible for them. Thus the "apologies" are really more along the lines of an accusation against their enemies and congratulations for themselves.

I think I disagree with you about how likely this is.

However, if truly irrefutable evidence was found proving this, I’d have to revise my world-view. I doubt most liberals and environmentalists would be willing to do so. They would just reject the evidence.

I have a good friend who absolutely, positively refuses to admit that “persons of color” commit more crimes than “persons of pallor.” This allows him to continue to believe that the differential imprisonment rate is entirely and purely a result of racist law enforcement.

When I showed him the FBI statistics on the race of perps that was gathered from victims, a disproportionate number of whom are themselves persons of color, he simply rejects the statistics. They are gathered by a white-controlled agency, don’t you know, and therefore cannot be trusted. What this means is that there is no conceivable evidence that would lead him to modify this cherished belief.
