The Intel Core i7 is an awesome adjustment, and I’m saying that as a longtime AMD fan. But they can’t beat that thing for now.

Upgrading from FX-60 to i7 920

Yep, so you can play GTA 17 (exactly like GTA 1 through 16) and Final Fantasy LXXXVI (exactly like Final Fantasy I through LXXXV) at 6000 x 4000 resolution and 900 fps, when in fact anything over 35 fps is pretty much the same to the human eye. Yawnnnnnn.....

AMD is doing something special...just saw a note for an event....

Calling All AMD Fans!

If you are wanting to get a sneak peek at AMD's next-gen GPU technology in action, this is your chance. Join myself and other industry talking heads on the decks of the retired aircraft carrier, the USS Hornet on September 10th from 1830 hours till 0100 hours in Alameda, CA.

You must RSVP to Monica and mention HardOCP sent you! You MUST be 21 or older. You MUST be on the RSVP list to attend, do NOT just show up as space is limited. Do NOT RSVP then not show as your family will be hunted down with for-hire mercenaries. You MUST bring a valid government issued ID. You must be able to tolerate boorish and egocentric conversation from idiotic "gurus" in the industry. Certainly you MUST be willing to have a good time. (Not a take your pants off good time, but close.) Alcohol will be served. Arm wrestling is mandatory, square dancing is optional.

It would be great if I could get my 2 WAY SLI config to work. It crashes every time. What a waste of bux.

MS Flight Sim X runs on my rig, and I’m using dual-SLI with 64-bit Vista and 4 GB of RAM. 2 256 GB eVGA SLI video cards running in dual-SLI mode (no connecting strip) runs at 60 fps in most games on my 24” Apple HD Cinema monitor, and I’m using a mobo that’s 5 years old.

The new stuff is going to be truly epic, but 4 PCI-Express cards at $300 apiece is a bit much. Play to your enjoyment, not to the max of the platform. Besides, we’re already over the 1 KW mark on PSUs, why pay higher utility bills just to play a damn game?

Great Googally-moogally...

That's a lot of bandwidth on the NB. I guaranty it'll bottleneck somewhere. If not at the NB controller, then in either cache sequencing or in one of the core routing channels.
