KILLEEN - A pit bull attack sent a 9-year-old girl to the hospital Tuesday afternoon in Killeen.
Killeen Police tell News Channel 25 that the girl was attacked by a neighbor's dog after she got off the school bus at the intersection of Bryce and Evergreen.
A witness tried to pull the dog off of the girl but was unsuccessful. Police say a neighbor then pulled the dog away and picked the girl up, carrying her to his residence.
The victim was taken to Metroplex Hospital with what officers at the scene called "serious" injuries to her leg. Her current condition is unknown.
The pit bull was captured by animal control and taken from the scene to be quarantined.
Officers at the scene told News Channel 25 that the dog was in a cage but the cage was not locked. They also report the dog's owner will face charges for the attack.
I also would like to see a photo of the owner.
I have been told, repeatedly, that attacks like this are rare.
Prayers up for the little girl. This could traumatize her for years!
me too and I’m sick of it......
My brother’s brother in law had to have his pit bull put down. Two unprovoked attacks on other animals.
It’s a shame what selective breeding for aggressiveness has done to this once lovable and loyal breed.
I like dogs as much as the next guy but, this breed and a few others don’t fit my loving criteria.
Look at past histories of dog attacks. ALL the breeds of large aggressive dogs have histories of attacks. You can even track the periods at which those dogs were most popular by looking at years of most attacks.
Think of it this way, every day millions of pit bull dogs do not attack anyone.
Did you know you posted two different stories on the same attack? I know googling is fun, but it really isn’t necessary. Everyone is aware that a small percentage of dogs attack, so posting multiple stories of the same event isn’t going to fool those of us that are paying attention.
