After a month of previews, features, arguments and rankings, we're hours away from the kickoff of the 2009 season. Indulge us, please, for one more top 25. Here's my list of the top things to watch as the season gets under way. This is not a ranking, mind you, but merely a list. The items stretch from the games Thursday night to the games in December and January. Here are the players, coaches and games to watch to get a sense of how this season will unfold. And trust us: It really is, at long last, about to start.
1. The most pressing question about Oklahoma and Alabama is not whether Sam Bradford can repeat as Heisman Trophy winner or whether the Crimson Tide can win the SEC West again. First, tell me if their offensive lines jell. Do Bradford and new Bama starter Greg McElroy have time to set their feet? Answer that question, and you'll have the answer to whether the Sooners and the Crimson Tide contend for the national championship this season.

Lets make it a good one for a dark horse...
WAR EAGLE
I hate the Gators but can’t help but root for Tebow.
You’re going to hate them even more after we win another title.
Easy there, lets not jinx them. Brag after the season. Already, Debose is hurt, and the season hasn’t even started yet.
I’m a University of Michigan fan and just don’t care anymore.
You think this is the year UF runs the table? Their toughest game aside from the SEC Title game might be @ LSU.
That’s certainly the carrot Urban is dangling, to be the first unbeaten team in UF history.
“... McCoy might be the most valuable to his offense. What happens to the Texas offense if he takes the blow that puts him on the sideline?”
Heaven Forbid. Colt does have a new backup.
I am a Gator grad and fan. My view is that UF should be favored to win it all again this year because they did last year and have so much back. But alas I know history is such that often the preseason favorite does not win nor to repeats happen often.
This is the year the BCS gets blown up. TCU will go 12-0 and get left out of the BCS Championship game. This time people will wake up and see the BCS for the crock it is.
I don’t want to hear crap from SEC fans, not with the garbage opening day schedule your teams have trotted out.
Charelston Southern at Florida, Western Carolina at Vanderbilt, Louisianna Tech at Auburn, Jackson St at Mississippi St, Western Kentucky at Tennesee, Missouri St at Arkansas? You gotta be kidding me! Why not schedule the Idaho Institute for the Blind?
For comparison here is some of the Mountain West Conference’s opening day schedule. BYU vs Oklahoma at neutral site, New Mexico at Texas A&M, San Diego St at UCLA.
Syracuse University OrangeMEN fan here.
It has been an ugly 4 years and it’s gonna be another Helen Thomas ugly like year again.
I just can’t wait. The Huskers have “HOPE” under BO. (Ironic, isn’t it?)
Dark horse is an understatement. My relatives in Alabama (who are Auburn grads) are still puzzled at the coaching hire. I guess time will tell.
The Georgia/OK-State game should be a good one this weekend. OSU wants to prove they are worthy of a top 10 ranking, and UGA wants to prove they belong also.
My picks for the SEC are Florida in the east (duh!) and Ole Miss in the west (I always thought Nutt was a very underated.)
Oh yea: WAR-BEAGLE!!!
Ole Miss is a good team, but I don’t see them finishing ahead of Bama and LSU.
