Edith Piaf (Possibly my favourite movie Bio)

Eyes Wide Shut (silly movie, fine soundtrack…added to by the underrated Jocelyn Pook)

Empire Records (Lots of the major songs are not on the soundtrack…nevertheless)

Elfman, Danny (as in anything he has ever done...) just to name a few....

1. Pee Wee’s Big Adventure
2. Beetlejuice
3. Batman
4. Edward Scissorhands
5. Batman Returns
6. The Nightmare Before Christmas
7. Mars Attacks!
8. Sleepy Hollow
9. Spider-man
10. The Corpse Bride
11. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
12. Sledge Hammer!
13. The Simpsons
14. Desperate Housewives
15. Alice in Wonderland (upcoming)

Danny Elfman is one of the most multi-talented musical composers of my generation; he is a modern day George Gershwin and Rogers & Hammerstein all rolled up neatly in one amazingly skilled package.

And let’s not forget about Oingo Boingo...

Julie Covington...now there’s a name I haven’t seen since the last time they ran Rock Follies in the US, and that’s nearly 30 years ago. As I recall, she was the one member of the “Little Ladies” who could really sing.

When I bought the " Don't Cry for Me Argentina" 45, I got a bit sick of it, so I flipped it over and "Rainbow High"!!!

I have never gotten sick of that.

And at least judging from these lyrics, Danny is pretty conservative:

Capitalism

There’s nothing wrong with capitalism
There’s nothing wrong with free enterprise
Don’t try to make me feel guilty
I’m so tired of hearing you cry

There’s nothing wrong with making some profit
If you ask me I’ll say it’s just fine
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to live nice
I’m so tired of hearing you whine
About the revolution
Bringin’ down the rich
When was the last time you dug a ditch, baby!

If it ain’t one thing
Then it’s the other
Any cause that crosses your path
Your heart bleeds for anyone’s brother
I’ve got to tell you you’re a pain in the ass

You criticize with plenty of vigor
You rationalize everything that you do
With catchy phrases and heavy quotations
And everybody is crazy but you

You’re just a middle class, socialist brat
From a suburban family and you never really had to work
And you tell me that we’ve got to get back
To the struggling masses (whoever they are)
You talk, talk, talk about suffering and pain
Your mouth is bigger than your entire brain
What the hell do you know about suffering and pain . . .

(repeat first verse)

(repeat chorus)

There’s nothing wrong with capitalism
There’s nothing wrong with capitalism
There’s nothing wrong with capitalism
There’s nothing wrong with capitalism

I didn't see Rachel Portman' score for 1996's Emma on the list. That score really lifted the film and provided much of its emotional content.
