I got one interesting radio feed today. It is from the RRG - Nazi Radio defending it's invasion of Poland. It also goes on to say that claims by the Polish that the Germans dropped gas around Pozen are false (as far as I know it is the only true statement in the report). It's in english so no worries.

Now for the U.K. Telegraph.

Britain's last warning - Sept 2, 1939

A last warning to Germany was delivered in Berlin last night by Sir Nevile Henderson, the British Ambassador.

“Unless the German Government are prepared to give assurances that the German Government have suspended aggressive action against Poland and are prepared promptly to withdraw their forces from Polish territory, the Government in the United Kingdom will without hesitation fulfil their obligation to Poland.” (More at Link)

Homer, that’s a lot of homework to read today! I’m at work so I’ll have to get to it later.

However, the map at 26 is fairly accurate for day 2. It does show Army Group North’s attacks to cut the Corridor. It also shows Army Group South’s attacks, mainly by Reichenau’s 10th Army, although the direction is a bit off. The map does not show that Reichenau is carrying the main weight of the offensive. Also, they’ve missed the offensive by 3rd Army out of East Prussia toward Mlawa to open the northern route to Warsaw.

This was the Result of Appeasing a despot, the same thing we are doing today, with the terrorists.

When I saw the headline about those giant passenger planes, I thought of the Constellations. 11 psssengers? Not exactly ‘huge’ even by 1939 standards.

Also note to all: make note of the qualification on Hitler’s promise to Norway.

We’ll get into Norway over the winter or spring, but suffice to say neither side respected Norwegian neutrality.

Too much media attention on Westerplatte, which while visible, was merely a sideshow.

The real fighting was in Silesia with German 8th and 10th Armies tearing into the Polish Lodz group. This only merits a blurb from the Polish General Staff about “heavy fighting in Silesia.”

At least the Germans were able to protect the neutral Swedes from Churchill.
