Too much lost privacy with Google earth and its competitors.
Very easy to see the compound on Google Earth - makes you wonder why law enforcement didn’t think of using it when neighbors reported kids living in the back yard.
Also Google readily pulled up stories of the earlier kidnapping and rape - even before this part of the story broke. Again - makes you wonder why the F B I or other local law enforcement who were working this case for 18 years never thought to Google “kidnap” “sex offender” “south lake tahoe” or any similar search strings that pull up the old stories with Girrado in them. Really, there aren’t that many kidnappings in South Lake Tahoe especially by sex offenders and child molesters. It’s a pretty quiet town.
