Computer Screen Has Gone Wobbly---HELP!!!

I have an LCD flat screen computer monitor. I turned it on a little while ago and most of what I see is wobbling slightly. However, I do notice the extreme right side of the screen seems to be steady (insert political joke here).

I restarted my computer but the problem remains the same. The brightness of the screen remains the same as before so I don't think this is because the screen is somehow fading.

Anybody know how I can fix this.

Could be a video card that is getting hot. Is it a hot day? Is there dust accumulating inside the computer?

I cured a similar problem by downloading a free program that boosted my cooling fan speed.

If the only thing you have done is mess with the cable, and the condition has changed, it may be the connectors or a loose wire in the cable.

Replace the monitor cable.

I've encountered bar tables with the same problem. Usually a matchbook or folded up napkin under one of the table legs takes care of the problem........

Bring up your settings OSD for the monitor with the button on your monitor, if that wobbles or is distorted then it’s the monitor, if not then it’s the cables or video card.

Anything magnetic, including speakers, powerful stereo systems, tvs (they do emit), refrigerators, fans, etc... will cause this. You would be amazed at what all emits magnetic force ;)

Also, if you have any power cables running near the screen.

LCDs aren’t affected by magnets like CRTs are.

That's what I was thinking.. wasn't sure though. I had experience from a crt many years ago from 1 tv to the left (on top of a half fridge in the barracks and a stereo on the right :D Never had that type of prob with a flat screen though.

I am running on Win7 now. If you sign up as a BETA tester, you can download it directly from Micro$oft and they will email you a key to go along with it. I have the PC (probable candidate) wich is the latest. This version is awesome... Even the original BETA ran better than any XP or Vista SP version. It installed in less than 15 minutes and had all the drivers already with it, so I received NO errors after installation. But I did log onto nVidia and Creative Labs to get the latest drivers. It runs smooth and boots FAST. Even getting the network running (for internet) was simpler than any previous version of MS.

If you are sure it’s the monitor you could buy a new monitor now and a computer later. There’s no rule you have to buy both at the same time.

I could really save money by just buying an old tube monitor for almost nothing and then take my time to shop around for a flat screen monitor.

Uh-oh! The settngs OSD are fine. No wobbles. I think it's cables or video card. When I powered up 'puter this morning the fan sounded like it was running at ultra-high speed and the monitor wouldn't come on. Then I turned 'puter off and tried it a couple of times until monitor on. Looks like I might have to get a new tower.

Did you get the looking for signal OSD on the monitor, it may shift from saying analog/digital several times until it stops. Are you connecting with a DVI cable or an analog cable? Also take your LCD to someone who has a computer and check it out, even a Playstation 3 or Xbox will do.

Unless your tower is outdated and you want a new one or has some strange propriety mobo that won't take a videocard you should be able to get a card cheap and they're nothing but easy to replace. But first check your cables, get that monitor on a system that works to proof it, then consider a new video card or new tower.

If you go video card make sure you know if you have an AGP or PCI-E slot.

Also check if it has onboard video you may be able to proof the monitor with that, it would look like another video output but up with the rear panel connectors not down in the expansion slots. To enable that if it's there will need a trip to the BIOS which can be scary if you've never been there. See what you have first.
