Since I probably won't be able to post next week (thought I might try to sneak one in Sunday) I'm putting up some colorful images. Hope you like.
Another place I'm unlikely ever to visit: Akpatok Island, Ungava Bay, Canada:
From space:
Akpatok Island lies in Ungava Bay in northern Quebec, Canada. Accessible only by air, Akpatok Island rises out of the water as sheer cliffs that soar 500 to 800 feet (150 to 243 m) above the sea surface. The island is an important sanctuary for cliff-nesting seabirds. Numerous ice floes around the island attract walrus and whales, making Akpatok a traditional hunting ground for native Inuit people.
From the water:

The Dasht-e Kevir, or valley of desert, is the largest desert in Iran. It is a primarily uninhabited wasteland, composed of mud and salt marshes covered with crusts of salt that protect the meager moisture from completely evaporating.

Beautiful pictures, thank you!
Cogitator, have you seen or heard of Tuckaleechee Caverns in Tennessee? I just recently saw it on a TV show, and I was blown away.
That “island” from space looks like someone looked down and took a pic of a gravel driveway. really cool.
Looks like Staten Island.
The cliffs and lichens are beautiful this time of the year. ;’) Thanks GeronL!
Always enjoy your stuff. Thanks for posting.
