HELP! I'm trying to find a good but not expensive application for editing video.
What I mostly want to do is just cut out the commercials from recorded shows.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've tried several apps and haven't had much luck.
Thank You

It’s a lot faster and easier, with less haggle, to just fast-forward through them.

I assume the reply to yourself saying AVI means you need to edit AVI files. Adobe Premier is probably easiest for that, and has the speed to make it worth the cost, if you’ve got a lot of files.
If you’re editing TIVO recordings, stuff from your digital tuner, MPEGs, then I highly recommend VideoReDo Tv Edition - Extremely well worth the price.
Probably the method I would use would be to recode the video from AVI to MPEG, use VideoReDo Tv Suite to snip the commercials, then reencode the MPEG back to AVI using AutoGK.

If you're a Mac user,
Eye TV is one of the easiest to use solutions around.

I just ordered vegas moviepro 9 based on some professional recommendations.
Vegas Pro 9 was just too expensive.

Corel VideoStudio works well for me. Before editing my DVD’s I convert them into AVI format with a separate converter program.

I did not reply to myself saying AVI. I am editing MPEG-2 Files.
I guess I should have been more specific. Sorry :(

Very welcome. I use Pinnacle and ULead myself. I was brought up on machine to machine editing, the old fashioned analog way.

I have found a good site for free ware reviews is Gizmo Richards. Google him to find his site (I am on a hand held so I can’t) I would be surprised if they didn’t have some additional suggestions you might find useful

Roxio is fine for that, just make sure you have at least 2GB of Ram and it will go really fast.

Its a lot faster and easier, with less haggle, to just fast-forward through them. Exactly. Think of all the time spent editing, reviewing and converting the video. It'll add up to at least 5 times what you would have spent watching the commercials in the first place. Think 'Efficiency'!
