A corollary would be that a movie about the Go Gos or the Bangles (Girl bands that had actual hits) might be more interesting by an infinitesimal amount.
To be fair, Joan Jett and Lita Ford both went on to have MTV hits in the days of Go Gos and Bangles.
They were huge in Japan (as in couldn’t walk down the street).
A corollary would be that a movie about the Go Gos or the Bangles (Girl bands that had actual hits) might be more interesting by an infinitesimal amount. The Bangles had actual hits, but the Runaways had a considerably more notorious story. In some ways, so did the Go-Gos, but the Runaways were there ahead of them, for better or worse, and from what I've read of the band it's arguable whether better or worse applies the most, which may be another compelling reason why the Runaways might make an interesting film subject.
(The Runaways and the Bangles share a member, by the way: before she landed in the Bangles, Micki Steele was the Runaways' founding bassist---they launched as a power trio in Los Angeles, with Cherie Currie and Lita Ford joining later; Steele was replaced first by a short-lived bassist named Peggy Foster and then by Jackie Fox, who'd originally tried out as the band's lead guitarist.)
