anyone can work on a cessna 205, or 206, and they can also carry 1,000 lbs usable load. All can operate out of 1,000 ft strip.

Yes...and with the cargo doors you can can get off the ground with about anything you can get in through the opening...but being a guy who likes the steerable wheel on the other end I'd take a 185...:o)

I'm not a pilot, but I understand the "duck waddle" to avoid a ground loop. If, and again, IF I could afford an aircraft, I'd need to consider cost, and fuel cost might change my mind. I'd need to stay as cheap as I could without getting stupid. I'd want something that could operate out of about 750 feet. I've got a 1240ft by 50 ft landing strip, way out in the middle of nowhere, and on top of a hill. But I'd want to build a hanger before I got the aircraft, and then I'd need to get my license before I bought an aircraft. If I went experimental, I'd seriously look at a Zenith Ch 801, simply because I believe I'd like to fly slow and low to see the country side. But again, I'm NOT a pilot. Other interest might be a Mooney Midget, but it's not practical.
