An Omaha man had less-than-divine designs for the centuries-old Virgin Mary painting he stole from St. Cecilia Cathedral.
Aurelio Vallecillo-Sanchez planned to use money from selling the sacred painting to pay for an abortion for the 14-year-old girl he raped, prosecutors say.
That wasn't the only detail revealed Friday as Vallecillo-Sanchez, 39, pleaded no contest to sexual assault and theft.
Prosecutors say he threatened to kill the girl and her family if she went to police about the sexual assault.
Advertising And, prosecutors say, they believe Vallecillo-Sanchez was responsible for the thefts of dozens of pieces of religious artwork from at least five area churches in 2006 and 2007.
Vallecillo-Sanchez, 39, pleaded no contest to first-degree sexual assault for impregnating the 14-year-old girl and to felony theft for stealing The Virgin Immaculata a painting St. Cecilia officials valued at $100,000.
He faces up to 70 years in prison 50 years on the sexual-assault charge and 20 on the theft charge when he is sentenced in October.
He is very remorseful and ashamed, said his attorney, Assistant Douglas County Public Defender Kelly Steenbock. He will give a sincere statement expressing that remorse at sentencing.
Brother William Woeger, curator of the St. Cecilia Cathedral art collection, said he was glad the plea had come to pass.
Hopefully this will put some closure on things for the young woman, and maybe put some closure on it for the other churches, Woeger said.

“Aurelio Vallecillo-Sanchez”
Legal Swedish Immigrant, obviously.
The face of the New Americans, doncha know
Where to begin
Maybe G_d can forgive this piece of human garbage, but I don’t think He will object one bit to our administering justice.
What’s scary is that already there’s some hotshot lawyer preparing to defend this cretin, claiming racism, or abortion rights, or illegal’s rights or who knows what.
Oh, he's sorry all right.
Too bad dozens of churches lost their precious religious art to this scum. He sold it all in Mexico, so it's not recoverable. Seventy years isn't long enough for his panoply of crimes: the thefts, the rape, the attempted abortion, the pedophilia, the threats against the child and her parents. I bet the police don't know the half of them.
He’ll be well received in jail and even better received in hell.
Wow - 3 grievous, mortal sins all at once.
Go straight to hell, do not pass GO, do not collect $200.
Whatever they do,jut don’t send him to Scotland.
Another one today:
Man accused of raping autistic 7-year-old girl

I just read another article about this monster. He got $3000 in Mexico for the painting. The ‘church’ has been coddling these immigrants and demanding amnesty, I can’t feel too sorry for them.
Another dead American:
Mireles trial set for November
http://www.kansas.com/news/top/story/935914.html
[snips] Israel Mireles, who is charged with capital murder, rape and aggravated criminal sodomy in Emily Sander’s death nearly two years ago.
Six argued that Sander suffered one lethal injury after another while still alive.
. Mireles, a Mexican citizen who was legally in the United States, had been a waiter at an Italian restaurant next to the motel. He had stayed there with a pregnant teenage girlfriend who was visiting relatives in Baxter Springs. (PROOF WE don’t vet the “legal” ones!)
Diane Schunn, an expert on sexual assaults, also examined Sander and would later testify that she had never seen such extensive injuries.
Although Mireles is charged with capital murder, under an extradition treaty with Mexico he can’t face the death penalty. If convicted of the charge, his punishment would be life in prison without the possibility of parole. (Under our jurisdiction...but not under our laws...death penalty only for USA citizens)
“who was legally in the United States”
Well that’s a shocker!
What is life like in one of those Southern Mexican villages where these troglodytes come from?
Don't tell me...
Point taken!
