Mother of Bristol Palins ex-beau guilty in drug case
PALMER, Alaska The mother of the man former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palins daughter Bristol had planned on marrying has reached a plea deal in her drug case.
Sherry Johnston pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of possession with intent to deliver the painkiller OxyContin. Five other felony counts were dropped.
Thats pretty, Johnston said as a court officer placed pink handcuffs, a gift from an Arizona sheriff, around her wrists.
She hugged her lawyer, Rex Butler, before being escorted out of the courtroom and taken to a correctional facility where shell be held until her Nov. 20 sentencing.
Although Johnston could receive 20 years in prison, her attorney and prosecutors agreed to a 5 year sentence, with two years suspended, Butler said, considering the small quantities of drugs involved. The judge has the sentencing recommendation under review.
Johnston, 42, is the mother of 19-year-old Levi Johnston. He and 18-year-old Bristol Palin were engaged but called the wedding off after their son, Tripp, was born in December.

“Even street thugs don’t pick on other people’s mothers. Or at least they didn’t used to.”
Yet the little rat bstrd has done just that...and this post was about him, not her...read my post at #2...or get someone with comprehension to read it to you..
Nah...I just happened to see some Palin bashing stuff at the supermarket checkout, and it dawned on me that some folks might develop a sympathetic backlash.
Well, it’s not their love child that’s in trouble here.
adieu.
Cut and run if you have nothing to say. Figures.
Yep, all it cost was our freedom.
This dirtbag will be part of the child’s life forever.
He will be a part of Bristol’s life forever.
Pathetic loser that he is.
At this rate he just might end up in prison one day himself.
And yet, he was good enough for Bristol Palin to hand-pick him to be her baby's father, and for Sarah Palin to invite him to join the campaign trail.
So, then the baby could become the teenage parent of an illegitimate child.
Where did you get the “information” that it was Sarah Palin who “invited” him to the convention?
Levi obviously isn't much of a father for the child anyway. He his hobo-ing across the MSM to trash his child's mother and smears her family. Won't make a difference in what way he'd be absent.
Why am I not surprised that you have a personal insult for me instead of staying on subject.
You must have gotten training at Saul Alinsky’s knee because conservatives don’t act that way.
Sarah Palin didn’t care enough about her daughter to keep her out of drug houses and to prevent her from becoming an unmarried teen - the very things that create big federal government programs in this country.
Sarah Palin seems to quit every job that she is obligated to finish. Have pity on that poor little baby and don’t pretend that Sarah would come through for him.
Are you saying that he invited himself?
Was the Secret Service having a series of bad days all those times he bullied his way to showed up on stage next to her family?
Or are you saying that sPalin didn't have any choice as to who stood next to her and her family on the stage and who traveled with her when she campaigned?
Which is it, hmmm?
Can't wait to hear your answer.
“And yet, he was good enough for Bristol Palin to hand-pick him to be her baby’s father, and for Sarah Palin to invite him to join the campaign trail.”
Ohhhhh...you mean he was doing this crap BEFORE? No, huh?
So, it is your belief that his mother moved from straight arrow to a hardcore drug user and drug pusher in just a few months?
Or is it your contention that no one knew the kind of person his mother is? Or the sort of person he is? In which case, whose fault is it that they allowed their underage daughter to date the weaselly son of a drug dealer?
Again, they picked him one way or the other.
“Again, they picked him one way or the other.”
THEY picked him? Can’t argue with logic like that. You win.
Let that little punk go back to the obscurity that he so richly deserves. Don’t give that sort of story more oxygen. It’s certainly not worth arguing about.
Bristol Palin handpicked him to be her child's father.
The family picked him to join them on the campaign trail.
Yes, they picked him.
Cant argue with logic like that. You win.
Whether you can or you can't, you know who I'd like to see win? That little boy who's growing up with a (at best) part time father and a grandmother in prison.
Before anyone says that fathers don't matter when the grandparents are awesome, save it. Nothing in the world replaces a birth parent when you know your parent could be spending time with you, but chooses not to.
This is why important for people to choose the best parent for their potential child before they engage relations.
It is also why it is vitally for people to wait until they are capable of making that sort of mature decision.
And it is why it is vitally important for parents to know who their children are dating.
A mother and a father are what a child needs to be everything they were meant to be, and there is no politician on the planet important enough for me to throw away my values in that area.
THEY picked him?
Bristol Palin handpicked him to be her child’s father.
Ohh...I didn’t realize Bristol was more than one person...they picked him...thanks for the illumination. I really CAN’T argue with logic like that. Your logic could use a little mustard though...pretzels are always better with mustard...
