I HATE, HATE, HATE the sound of lapel mikes. When you see old kinescopes of game shows and talk shows, with big old mikes just sitting out there, you’ll notice that the people sound great. Of course, the current talk show guys pretend to have a mike on the desk.

I’ll bet if the host and guests on TV would wear a mike on top of their heads, they’d get great results. The host’s mike would pick up the guest, and the guest’s mike would pick up the host.
