Seems some people are actually outraged, outraged that First Lady Michelle Obama dared to bare so much leg by wearing shorts on a recent trip to the sweltering Grand Canyon.
OMG. First she wears a sleeveless dress, now this?
But think about this for a minute. What should she have worn to the Grand Canyon? A tweed pantsuit? A ballgown? What do you wear on your summer vacation?

Re: “ SHE IS THE FIRST LADY. SHE SHOULD DRESS BETTER THAN THIS!!!!! Yeah this is fine for hot Arizona, blah blah blah. But she is the prez wife! Laura Bush would have never shown up in such a getup”
************
One, it’s not THAT hot at the Grand Canyon — I’ve been there dozens of times in summer - it’s NOT Phoenix, for God’s sake! Two, she could’ve put on Bermuda shorts or capris and three, she could’ve found some slightly more attractive sandals.
No, Laura Bush would never have dressed that way, nor would ANY other ‘first lady’ in our memory. The female contingent of this ‘first family’ often appears slovenly and it’s an embarrassment.
I think it looks like she is wearing one without a built-in bra.
I have a problem with how her and the kids are dressed......they look SLOPPY as HELL! You can buy nice short outfits...better she should wear capris.
>>I dont assume her to wear more appropriate clothing.<<
I fully agree with you there and I think that you have a safe bet!
>>SHE HAS WIGS<<
Yup, black ladies wear wigs because their roots have to be straightened so much that it ruins the hair. With that, they have less natural oil in the scalp so they have to “Oil their heads”. Some of the BEST haircare products I have ever used were for black hair.
I wish she would wear MORE wigs. I wish she would look black.
The kids look just as bad as she does.
Re: “Shes on vacation, hiking in 100 degree heat. A pant suit is not going to cut it. Im hardly concerned with what shes wearing while hiking the Grand Canyon.
Im more concerned that the First Family is on vacation every other week and getting paid with and using our tax dollars to travel the country.”
*******
‘Hiking the Grand Canyon,’ eh? Clearly you have not BEEN to any part of the Grand Canyon. I have been there, more times than I care to remember.
She and the rest of them were driven there in big air conditioned vehicles and had to walk a few yards on flat cement to peer over the edge of the South Rim for their photo op.
It’s hot in AZ in summer, but the GC is NOT Phoenix! And if it was so blasted hot as some of you claim, she would not have been wearing that shirt over the tank top!
The woman shows very poor taste nearly ALL the time and exhibits an obnoxious “I’m queen and can do what I want on YOUR dime” attitude.
And yeah, vacations every few days since entering the WH are beginning to wear thin with those paying for them — US!
Nope, never been any further west than Chicago.
And I’m still not getting all bothered about what she’s wearing. Sorry. I’m just not. I’m none-too-interested in people who choose to make themselves look ridiculous.
And I’m certainly not going to prove a LAT waste-of-flesh reporter right by getting all bothered by her attire. There’s no point. Nothing you or I say or think will change her clothing “tastes”, so I’m not getting all worked up over it like some on this thread.
She’s a classless person and there are many more things we can pick on than her choice of clothing.
Re: “She looks like shes been traveling in a station wagon with no air conditioning for 10 hours”

ha ha — that brings back memories of my youth. We’d cross the CA/NV desert from L.A. thru Vegas on our way to North Rim of Grand Canyon or those national parks in Utah.
We’d arrive in Vegas for lunch in our ‘54 Ford station wagon with one of those weird cylindrical things affixed to a window — the ‘a/c!’ You’d pull on some string to release a little cool air. Hilarious.
And boy, did we look rumpled and messy when stopping in Vegas for lunch. My mother was embarrassed to go to a hotel coffee shop for lunch until we all stopped at a gas station and primped for 10 minutes, trying to look more presentable.
Different times, to be sure, and we were NOT the ‘first family!’ It seems to me that things were nicer overall, though, back in the days when people showed some sense of decorum. In these photos Michelle O. looks like she is ready to paint the living room.
She is six feet tall, or near enough to it. What is going to fit her at Ann Taylor?
That picture on the right is a keeper. Looks like some of the extras from Absolutely Fabulous.
Nascar drivers will be at WH this afternoon 4:30 et ESPN2 - I wonder if Ms M and 0 will have their fav drivers hats and t-shirts on - nah.......
The First Family stayed in one of the eight penthouses on the tenth floor of Big Sky Resorts Summit Hotel on Friday night, said resort spokesman Dax Schieffer. The entire tenth and ninth floor were reserved for the Obamas and family as well as White House and Secret Service staff.
All in all we had about 400 people as part of the group, Schieffer said
400 people for a one day hike in the Graand Canyon?
That’s what I figured. Fauxbamas!
THUNDER thighs!
Not everyone.
I don’t know. I’m 5’10 and I love that store. I’ll admit, the pants are always too short - rrrgh! - but that always happens. This is one of my top 10 non-political gripes - why don’t they make pants that fit tall girls with long legs! I’m sick of adding hem tape to all my pants! Manufacturers - please make pants in enough quantity in “tall” and not just “short” and “average”. Okay, I’ll stop.
And we get to foot the bill.
Anyone have any idea how much the Obamas’ excursions this summer have cost us?
