‘Goode Family’ Canceled, Too Left for ABC

Proving once again its claim to the hotly contested title of Stupidest Television Network, ABC has canceled “The Goode Family” and “Surviving Suburbia,” continuing their business strategy of desperately trying new things and failing to give them a chance to succeed.

No wonder the cab/sat USA Network actually beat ABC (and the CW network) in the national ratings last week. USA’s formula of original series with unusual but likable characters and sound values carries consistently impressive audience appeal.

I’m wondering why they can’t just market these shows directly on Hulu or something. If I was Judge, I’d continue making the show and sell it on DVD.

Never heard of it.

It's hilarious. It satirizes the envirowacko movement and liberals in general.

I don’t think most liberals would even catch on to that.

In other words, it was set up to fail as a future argument that conservative shows “dont work”.

If Cartoon Network does not pick it up, the show must be really bad.

I watched the first Goode Family. I wanted to like it since it ostensibly made fun of liberals. It sort of did, but it really sucked in general (lots of lame stuff in between its few humorous moments), so I never watched it again.

In other and better news, CBS has finally stopped backstopping and pre-empting and otherwise trying to slam The Unit up against the wall, and the series has been cut loose to move over to UPN, or whatever they call it now.

I watched one ep of it, but didn’t care for it. It looked like a subpar rework of “King of the Hill.”

I’m not surprised. It just wasn’t funny.

I watched the first 3-4 episodes, and then forgot about it. It ostensibly mocked liberals and leftist ‘causes’, but the Goodes were presented as such nice, kind people overall that the mockery was too mild, too ‘nice’ to really sting. It was impossible to imagine the Goodes fantasizing about murdering millions of Americans, or mocking people as subhuman for holding different beliefs on abortion, or affirmative action, or illegal immigration, or (fill in liberal cause) -and THAT is the TRUE face of liberalism, IMO.

I made a point of watching The Goode Family on Hulu so the producers would get a ratings point from me every time. I do this for any show I like that isn't a best seller.
