I rarely see FReeper Catholics talk about end times or even believe were in it. Wonder why?
They're not dispensationalists (an "evangelical heresy").
They do discuss eschatology, sometimes. I've followed a discussion or two on FR. Did you know R.C.s have end times fiction? LDS likewise.
Asserting UNRUBBERIZED PLAIN BIBLICAL TRUTH AS OPPOSED TO
REPLACEMENTARIANS ET AL declaring rather brazenly that God couldn't have meant what He said
because . . . uhhhhh . . .
because . . . wellll . . . uhhh . . .
because . . . REPLACEMENTARIANS et al know better than God what God meant!
. . . how Dispy plain reading of plain Scriptur--how that's . . . labeled 'heresy' by the RUBBER BIBLE FOLKS.
God have mercy.
No, I don’t know anything about their fiction. Thanks.
I was raised Catholic and attended Parochial grade school and continuing religious education after that, and there wasn’t a huge focus in our church about the End Times (perhaps that’s why it interests me so much nowadays). I remember our 4th grade teacher (a “civilian” and not a nun) thinking WWIII (between Russia & the U.S.) would be the famed battle.
I also remember during a week-long retreat in High School talking about the End Times and recognizing the passage about the creatures of the sea dying and the man who was teaching us (a seminary student I believe) said it would probably be pollution that results in the dead fish and such...
Other than that I don’t remember learning much about it all... I think the main exhortation we received that ‘covered’ this whole situation was just to ALWAYS be ready for the Lord’s return (or your own death) because end times or not, we could perish at any moment, really.
